MEET YOUR FARMER” PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS LOCAL AGRICULTURE AT
ROCK ISLAND COUNTY FAIR
A new “Meet Your Farmer” event highlighting local agriculture will be held, Wednesday, July 17th at the Rock Island County Fair. The event is hosted by Rock Island Soil & Water Conservation District, Rock Island County Farm Bureau and Precision Conservation Management.
The event will run from 9:00am – 4:00pm and is free to attend. The schedule for the day is as follows:
9:00am – Farmers Market highlighting local products
10:00am – Canning Demonstration with University of Illinois Extension
11:00am – Keynote speaker Raghela Scavuzzo, Illinois Farm Bureau Associate Director of Food Systems Development
12:00pm – Lunch (free to all attendees)
12:00pm – Fermentation Demonstration
1:00pm – Roundtable Discussions with local farmers on conservation
1:00pm – Check-in for the Pedal Tractor Pull (free for kids 12 years old and under)
2:00pm – Pedal Tractor Pull Competition
2:30pm – Presentations from Precision Conservation Management and Rock Island Soil & Water Conservation District
3:00pm – Beekeeping Demonstration
The event will take place under the band tent next to the Copeland Center. Gate admission to the fair is free. A free lunch catered by A Guy and A Grill will be provided. Join us for this family-friendly event to learn all about local agriculture and visit with farmers and growers from the Quad Cities area!
